“What?”
“There is no family holding company.”
Godfrey looked at Arthur.
“Then why are we here?”
I slid his spreadsheet across the table.
“To talk about this.”
He stopped moving.
Then I placed copies of the disputed signatures beside it.
Phedra’s face appeared on a laptop screen from her hospital room. She had wanted to be present but was not strong enough to leave.
Selina looked from the screen to me.
“Damian, whatever she told you—”
“She didn’t tell me about these.”
I tapped the signatures.
“The bank did.”
Godfrey stood.
“This is bullshit.”
Arthur spoke calmly.
“Sit down, Mr. Sterling.”
“Who the hell are you?”
“Damian and Phedra’s attorney.”
Godfrey looked at me.
“You set us up.”
“No.”
I leaned back.
“I told you I had a million dollars. Everything after that, you volunteered.”
Selina’s face hardened.
“After everything I have done for you?”
I looked at Phedra on the screen.
