My husband had no idea I was the anonymous billionaire behind the company he was proudly celebrating that night. To him, I was just his “plain, exhausted” wife who had “lost herself” after giving birth to twins. At his promotion gala, I stood there holding our babies when he pushed me toward the exit.

I closed the laptop instead, held both twins for most of the following few hours while they slept restlessly against me, and worked through exactly how I wanted this to happen — not impulsively, in the middle of the night out of pure fury, but carefully, in a way that would hold up completely once every single detail came to light.

⸻

I called my attorney, Desmond Prewitt, first thing the next morning, someone who’d handled Meridian’s affairs for almost a decade and understood exactly how carefully we needed to structure whatever came next.

⸻

“I need Northgate’s full board assembled by end of week,” I told him. “Emergency session. And I need everything documented from last night — the texts, and I need you to pull the venue’s security footage from the alley entrance before anyone thinks to review it themselves.”

⸻

“You’re finally doing this,” Desmond said. It wasn’t quite a question.

“I’m finally doing this,” I confirmed.
